Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our fishing report is compiled from the catches of our fleet.
We'll update the report every Tuesday.

BIG BLACK HEADLINES BISBEE EAST CAPE !!!

The Bisbee East Cape tournament set records for the event with the biggest Marlin and biggest Dorado caught in tourney history. The 581 lb. Black Marlin boated by "Extraction" took first place money and also won the daily jackpot on the first day of the event. 56 boats entered the event which was an increase over last year. Congrats to Cabo based Captain Hiram Montana & deckhand Jaime Gonzalez Jr.

Fishing around the peninsula remained strong with Blue and Striped Marlin being caught every day. July 28th. Proved successful for Mr. Cepeda and his friends aboard our 32' Cabo Express "Picante Express" with Captain Antonio "Nino" Romero at the helm. They released a Blue Marlin estimated at 200 lbs. and boated 2 Yellowfin Tuna.
Fleet production for the day was 1 Blue & 3 Striped Marlin (all released), Along with 9 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Dorado.

Our fast 35' Cabo Express "SALSA" with Captain Juan Carlos "Brincos" Lopez at the controls and deckhand Hugo working the cockpit showed Mr. Brown and his friends a great day plying the waters that surround the Baja peninsula. They released a Striped Marlin and a Pacific Sailfish along with boating 2 Dorado and 1 Yellowfin Tuna. Total fleet production was 1 Blue Marlin and 8 Striped Marlin (all released) along with 13 Dorado and 5 Yellowfin Tuna. Cabo fishing at it's best on July 29th.

The schools of Yellowfin Tuna are close enough to the beach for our fleet to reach and August 1st was a day that the porpoise were thick and the Yellowfin Tuna were feeding. A total of 38 Yellowfin were boated by our fleet. Many were released to grow up to be big Tuna.
With the football tuna in town the Blue's and Black's have plenty of candy to munch on and it won't be long before the big girls are crashing slow trolled tuna or top water jigs. TEAM PICANTE spent the day with friends on the 35' Cabo Express "CISCO" with Captain Jose "Mocho" Nunez at the helm and deckhand Ricardo working the cockpit. 18 miles due south of Lands End they found the first schools and put 8 in the boat in short order. Deciding to chase the Marlin "Cisco" headed SE and about 11:00 am an estimated 250 lb. Blue hit the port side outrigger and the fight was on. After about 20 minutes the fish was boat side and released to fight another day. An hour later a nice Striped Marlin estimated at 150 lbs. was convinced to east a live mullet and after 15 minutes the fish was released.
