Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT, MARCH 29TH TO APRIL 4TH.
PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT
MARCH 29TH TO APRIL 4TH
BILLFISH: At last we have good news! All I can say is that the fishing has exploded in the last couple of days. As mentioned in previous reports, we feel that the season is about a month ahead of it’s self, much to the delight of anglers currently in town. Fish of the week was a 560 lb blue marlin caught on Solmar on April 4th; this was an out of season fish, caught just a mile offshore. Since the start of this report, striped marlin, that were actually hungry started to appear in the Punta Gorda area. Larry and Shane Connor from, Centerville, Ohio, were fortunate to release four striped marlin aboard “Ruthless” on April 3rd. They weren’t the only ones with a quadruple day; “Andrea” also had four the following day for the Taylor party from St. Appleton, Wi. Most boats had at least one striped marlin per day and usually two. The fish are also of a nice - with the average weight being around 150 lbs and some as large as 200 lbs, such as one caught by J.W Dunlop from Rochester, Mi. As we close this report, boats are reporting even better catches on striped marlin, which we expect to remain steady for a while. Pisces anglers caught a total 37 striped marlin this week of which 32 were released – taking lures and bait.
OTHER SPECIES: Only a few tuna were caught, found the opposite direction, on the rougher Pacific. Nicest was a 180 lb’er caught on “Karina” on March 29th by Roger Anderson from Tonka, Wa, taking one hour to boat on 80 lb test, as San Jaime. Other tuna caught were 30-50 lbs. Just a few dorado, mostly picked up whilst trolling for marlin – weights were decent at 35 to 45 lbs. We are starting to see wahoo with more frequency – Zach Folan from Maiaga, Wa, boated a 75 lb beauty, on “Karina” on April 2nd. Inshore good action on roosterfish, lots of sierra and some jacks.
LOCATION: Westin to Destiladeres for marlin and dorado, tuna on the Pacific at San Jaime, but not a sure thing.
WEATHER CONDTIONS: Clear sunny skies, seas mostly calm.
AVERAGE WATER TEMP:72 F
BEST LURES: blue/white, green/yellow, live bait.
