Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

PISCES WEEKLY FISHRE REPORT NOVEMBER 11th TO 17TH, 2005

Billfish: Another outstanding week here in Cabo for striped marlin with boats catching from one to twelve fish in a day. The only problem is that the very best action has been at the Finger Bank located over 50 miles away, however as we closed the week, it seemed that more and more fish were showing up at Golden Gate. Local operators are beginning to feel the pinch in fuel costs and some are charging extra to go the extra twenty miles beyond the normal day fishing grounds, but it is usually well worth it. We had many boats with multiple marlin days resulting in a marlin catch success rate of close to ninety two percent. Usually to get a mention in the fish report, you need to catch three marlin in a day, this week it had to be six ore more. “Blue Thunder” a 60 ft Hatteras totaled 12 releases and 3 Dorado at the Middle Finder on November12th. This same day “Happy Boy” caught 11 plus 2 dorado, for Eulalio Gonzalez and friends from Benton City, WA. C-Rod a 38 ft Blackfin did well this day too for Pablo Broussain and Michael & Brian Buckley with 6 releases a 60 lb wahoo and 2 dorado. Next day out “Ruthless” scored 6 for the Licursi family as wee as 4 dorado. The following day “Ruthless” was our top boat with 8 releases for Julian Josey and Claude Finney from South Carolina. The 15th saw 8 striped marlin released and dorado for Ken & Tyler Smith, Jose Combey, Jason Fry, Scott Carleet and Denis Osburn. John Eves from Ontario, Canada fished with Christopher Bergler from buffalo NY and totaled 17 striped marlin and 2 dorado during two days of fishing aboard “Tracy Ann”. On November 16th “Yahoo” batte3led a huge black marlin 20 miles out from Los Arcos, after a lengthy fight the fish estimated at close to 900 lbs was released, as was a striped marlin they picked up later in the day. Pisces anglers caught a total of 197 striped marlin this week of which 193 were released. Those brought in weighed from 120 to 1q40 lbs. Our overall catch success rate for al species combined was 92%.

OTHER SPECIES: there were quite a few dorado caught this week, in fact fifty percent of charters caught between ton and four fish in the 15 to 40 lbs class, they were found in with the marlin and some concentrations were found at Golden Gate, where a few boats caught up to ten. Yellow fin tuna catches were quite a bit slower with just seven percent of charters finding fish in the 30 to 70 lbs class. Wahoo catches were fair, with fish from 35 to 70 lbs, usually incidental catches whilst trolling for marlin. Inshore pangas caught roosters, black and white skipjack and some needlefish. LOCATION: Los Arcos to Finger Banks, with Golden Gate and Finger Banks the best spots

WEAHTHER CONDITIONS: Perfect, clear sunny skies, calm seas, and beautiful sunrises.

AVERGE WATER TEMP: 77-78 F
