Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Pisces Sportfishing Fish Report March 30th through April 5th

Overall Success Rate: 98.5%

BILLFISH: Outstanding week we just had here, with 92.3% of the charters coming home with marlin flags, and the season is just starting. The first day of the week, Rebecca surprised us releasing 5 striped marlin at the Golden Gate for Ben Veralrud, Robert Morrison, Mark Litchman, Patrick Courtney and John Rapone, all with live bait, that same day, Andrea released 4 stripers for Ted Peck from New York, and we have the pleasure to post a vessel that we don’t see very often on the fish report is the 80ft Yacht Josephine, as this gorgeous yacht is more for pleasure than fishing, the crew managed to release three striped marlin for Jeffrey D. Gow from Washington, and another three the next day for James Hickey and friends. On March 31st, Valerie released four striped marlins for Nicholas and Jason Falco from San Jose, Ca. and Stan Brenner from Plainfield, NJ. Also the Falcon released 5 Striped marlin and landed one Dorado for the Scherer Family from LA. The 61fr Gallo released another 5 striped marlin for Bill Diesel from San Bernardo, CA, and no, no relation with Vin Diesel, I had to ask… Marlin fishing kept getting better with the days, from 65 trips, only 5 did not catch marlin and only two boats came back with no fish due to seasickness… April 1st, C-Rod released 6 Striped Marlin for Frank and Shelley Haughton and we thought it was going to be highlight of the week as many times before, however, the last boat to arrive to the dock, our 50ft Bertram the Swinger, gets it this week catching eight striped marlin and releasing them all for Mr. James Roush from Prescott, AZ. The rest of the week was about the same of previous days, with most of the boats releasing between one and three striped marlin. We are happy to announce a new addition to our fleet, the 32ft Cabo Express, Bill Collector, with Captain Julio Gonzales, this vessel caught 6 striped marlin on their first trip with us, and released 5 of them for the Meyer family, rumor has it that Captain Julio may be as good as our Captain Jobe, 1st place winner of the 2006Bisbee’ss Offshore Tournament, so watch out Jobe, you may have some competition. Thank you to all the anglers who released their billfish, a total of 145 were caught this week, and 140 were released, thank you very much for your support on the conservation of the specie.

SMALL GAME: What can I say…very slow week for small game with only 9% of the charters catching Dorado and another 9% catching tuna, however, we had some good catches. Sr. Moment found a school of tuna for Scout Biluk and landed 15 of them between 18 and 22lbs. Valerie was the lucky one hitting a school of yummy Dorado and landed 10 of them for Todd McCallister, size between 20 and 22lbs.

OTHER SPECIES: Panga fishing was good for sierras or Spanish mackerel and an occasional yellow tail. We had more boats catching Mako Shark than Tuna and Dorado this week. Marea caught a 60 pounder for Ken Julliet from New Jersey.

LOCATION: Pacific Side, going back and forth from Jaime Banks to Golden Gate.

WEATHER: Clear, sunny skies. Seas were mostly calmed until late in the week with 3 to 5 ft swells, nothing out of the ordinary in Cabo.

WATER TEMPERATURE: 65 to 68 F.

Based on the catches of Pisces Fleet, by Jorge Narro in Tracy’s absence.
