Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our fishing report is compiled from the catches of our fleet.
We'll update the report every Monday.
WAS A GREAT WEEK OF FISHING IN CABO !!!

The Marlin bite has turned on and it includes Blues and Blacks. The fishing continues to be on the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula. Blue Marlin are almost a daily catch and a nice Black Marlin was caught Saturday just 2 miles off Punta Ballena. Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo are also mixing in to keep our clients happy.
On July 12th. our 29' Blackfin "Picante 29" with Captain Alex Collins at the helm provided a great day of fishing for Mr. Rabinsky and his friends. They released a Blue Marlin (approx. 250 lbs.) and a Striped Marlin along with boating 2 Dorado and a Yellowfin Tuna for dinner.
Our total daily catch was 1 Blue and 1 Striped Marlin, 1 Wahoo, 13 Yellowfin Tuna and 4 Dorado.
July 13th. proved to be a productive day with a nice variety of fish caught. Our boat of the day was "19's Toy" with Captain Alfredo Ruiz at the controls. A friend of the owner, Mr. Barry and his friends spent the day on this great boat chasing fish around the Baja peninsula. After seeing lots of Striped Marlin they were able to hook up 2 fish to be released at boatside. The fleet kept our charters happy with 4 Striped Marlin released along with boating 2 Wahoo, 19 Yellowfin Tuna and 8 Dorado.

On July 14th. our good friend Mr. Addis and his friends spent the day with Captain Jose "Mocho" Nunez at the helm of our fast 35' Cabo Express "CISCO". They booked several days of fishing and today they made it to our "boat of the day" status. They released 3 Striped Marlin and 1 Mako Shark along with boating a Dorado for dinner. Total fleet production was 5 Striped Marlin, 2 Dorado, 1 Mako Shark & 1 "BIG" Grouper.
With cut backs in corporate travel is encouraging to see the folks from Jackson National Life treat their top employees to a convention here in our sleepy fishing village. They booked several boats and our new 32' Cabo Express "Picante Express" with Captain Antonio "Nino" Romero at the controls was our boat of the day releasing 3 Striped Marlin and boating a nice Wahoo for the Jackson National folks. I'm sure they enjoyed the Wahoo on the dinner table that evening.

Our final "Fish Story" for the week is right out of the fairy tales of fishing. Gerald Smith and his son are vacationing for Caldwell, New Jersey and decided to spend a day plying the waters around the Baja peninsula. They booked our 24' Shamrock "Picantito III" with Captain Francisco "Kilo" Acevedo at the controls and got the surprise of their lives when a BIG Black Marlin ate the lure on the outrigger and proceeded to act like most Blacks do when hooked, grey hounding all around the boat putting on a great show. Gerald had never caught a marlin and his son was making his first trip offshore. They have an experience both will talk about for years to come. The fish was estimated at 425 lbs. +…..they also boated 2 Dorado for dinner to discuse the days events. Fleet production for the day was 1 Black and 3 Striped Marlin, 2 Yellowfin Tuna, 3 Wahoo & 3 Dorado.
TOTAL FLEET PRODUCTION

• 3 Blue Marlin
• 22 Striped Marlin
