Capt Sonny With Shore Thing Fishing Charters 4-12-10 report

Capt. Matt Tusa
April 13, 2010
Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

Been at it pretty strong the past week. Fished two trips Friday, and one trip Saturday and Sunday. Fishing was pretty good for the most part. Still looking for Bay Anchovies and the terns have been leading them to us. If the wind blows, we simply get all we can from the grass beds in the way of trout and reds and then go hit the oyster reefs for white trout, ground mulllet and flounder. The bull red fishing got a little out of control on Friday. Between myself, Capt Matt, Capt Kyle and Capt Brett we caught well over 30 bulls. 3 of the boats were fishing morning trips and an evening trips.
Just got off the phone with Capt Matt and it looks like he whacked the trout today. Sounded like he hit a limit!
Still planning everyday around the wind but looking forward to a steady southern light breeze. We still have not touched much of our "Spring" fishing grounds due to low water. The north or north east wind has limited much our days in the Biloxi marsh.
Keeping with what has been working, we are still throwing the Marsh Works Shrimp with a 1/4 or 3/8 jig head, 18" of 20lb flourocarbon, under the popping corks. For the whites and ground mullet, carolina rigs with 1/0 hooks and dead shrimp.
Got a call from Kevin Desselle over at Sport Trail in Waveland, MS today. He suggested bringing the boat trailer in for a "check up". We put our trailers through a ton of abuse but Kevin and the guys at Sport Trail keep us running. Hands down, they make the best boat trailers on the planet. We trailer our boats every single day and our Sport Trail trailers get us to and from the launch every single time. Might not be a bad idea for anyone who plans on hitting the water to give their trailer a spring "check up" before you get on the road. Give Kevin a call, he always does great work.
We have boats open if anyone wants in on some great Spring fishing.
