happy easter report from Shore Thing Charters

Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

Happy Easter folks, hope everyone gets to enjoy it with friends and family. Saturday was a fun one to say the least. Had John Stribbling and his tribe. Big Charlie, Lil Charlie, John and Alex came along for the day. The mission was simple, bend the rods as much as possible for the younger anglers and get something BIG. Well, we found a few fish early but the water was dirty from yesterdays wind. Tried to make it work for two stops with just a few specks to show for it. Gave up on the popping corks and went to the oyster bottoms with dead shrimp and carolina rigs. Hit pay dirt with a bite/fish almost every drop. Had to pick through small croakers and catfish, but loaded the boat with white trout, ground mullet and even 1 nice flounder. I knew we did the right thing when the youngsters kept telling me, "thankyou for taking us fishing at this spot". Really proud of the adults for the making the day all about the younger anglers. Once they had their fill of the numbers, we went for the size. Found some bay chovies over a flat getting worked over by some big bull reds and trout. Hooked 6 bulls and got 3 in the boat. Did find a few really nice trout in the mix as well. Lil Charlie actually picked up the bay chovies the reds were puking up and casted them back out. The did not last long with either a trout or nasty catfish inhaling them. The bulls and specks were all caught on popping corks with Marsh Works shrimp. Really fun day with the Stribblings and always a great day watching the young anglers have fun.
