Killer fishing with killer crowds

Capt. Matt Tusa
May 4, 2012
Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

You would have thought the seas were 2-3ft with all the boat wakes I ran through on the way to the marsh. I have never had an escort of that many boats before, you guys behind me could have helped out with the ice chest lid that nearly took my head off. An ice chest lid at 50mph would not felt to good. With the amount of boats that beat me out, you would have thought somebody was giving out free gas, what struggling economy? Doesn't anybody work any more? The only thing I could think is commercial fisherman or everyone is a charter guide these days.

I had good client and now friend Sean and his ex-father-in-law and ex-brother-in-law, does anybody else find that strange? Guys I had three spots on my mind I would have liked to be sitting at sunrise, but that is a trick Yoda didn't teach me. Our first stop looked promising with plenty of shrimp popping, birds diving, and some good green water that has been hard to come by this year. We could never put any in the box. We left with six trout and rolled the dice with the next stop. And boy did we hit the mother load. Started slow on trout but fast on mackerel and ended slow on mackerel and fast on trout. These fish came in fast and big. We didn't have any 6lb, but had a box full of 2-3lb fish. My crew kept me busy fixing rigs and netting fish, and if I was busy they did it, we all worked together like we had been fishing together for years. A big jack came to the party and a couple of pompano were seen but not caught. We ended the day with 69 trout, 6 short of the limit only because we ran out of shrimp, and went 1 for 3 on triple tail. Sean, John, and Andy are welcome back any time! Great crew!

Give me a call 228-493-9743 I am open Sun. if anybody is looking to fish.
