Mixed Bags, but Beautiful Weather!

Gulfport - Saltwater Fishing Report
You could not ask for better weather, in fact it has been down right beautiful. About the only complaint has been when there are dead calm conditions. No wind equals Gnats this time of year. And without some excellent bug spray, they can drive you off the water or drive you a little crazy. Which ever comes first!
Catches have been mixed. Virtually all species have been taken, just not in huge quantities. Don't get me wrong, if you are looking to take fish home, you will be pleased. But, the problem has been predictability and patterning specific targets. Just when it looks like an early Speckle Trout Spawn is on, you find out the pattern you were tracking just isn't working and the fish are not there.
Such is March, somewhat fickle, can't make up its mind if it is going to be winter or spring, wet or dry, windy or calm. The fish tend to follow the same fickle unpredictably. Anyone who is willing to tell you the truth will say the same of our March fishery. But fish are there to be caught, it just takes a lot of searching and investment of time and patience. But those beautiful days have been producing and things are on the cusp of turning on.
Gulfport Fishing Forecast:
the peak Speckle Trout Spawn is around the corner and when it does it will be fast and furious. You won't even need a boat once spawning is full swing. From Clermont Harbor all the way to Ocean Springs front beach, and every location in-between, locals will be wade fishing for Speckle Trout. With a little reconnaissance via car or truck, anyone can research great location for wade fishing. But for those of who must be in a boat we will have unlimited destinations to fish for the same quarry.
