BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI - NO OIL HERE...JUST HUNGRY FISH!

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
June 9, 2010
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

NO OIL...JUST FISH IN THESE WATERS!

Just finished up 5 days in a row of fish catching fun mostly in the Back Bay of Biloxi, and a variety of fish including: redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum (including a 40-pound specimen), ladyfish, sheepshead, and white trout provided plenty of light tackle fun.

On most of those days it was so rough and rainy that we had to stay in the confines of the bay, but we managed to catch plenty of fish never the less. Heck, generally we fished no more than 5 minutes from the dock and had plenty of rod bending action.

Most fish were caught by fishing a live shrimp or menhaden under a noisy popping cork, or vertical fishing in the shade of bridges and over concrete rubble.

Thursday it was Charlie Daniel from Georgia, and he and Bobby boxed 40 white trout, 6 black drum, and 3 nice sheepshead.

On Friday had the Bill Reeves group from Starkville, MS and they boxed 3 big reds, 3 fine speckled trout, 1 flounder, 1 sheepshead, 30 white trout, and 6 black drum.

Saturday it was Jimmy Fulton and Myron Foster and they boxed 2 fine reds, 6 black drum, and 20 plus white trout.

Sunday, the Steve Severson family froup boxed 2 nice redfish, and 5 black drum. And on Monday, Gary Schetz and his daughter Suzanne Bogan boxed 2 pretty redfish, 4 black drum, 1 sheepshead, and 20 or so white trout.

During those trips we had to release plenty of redfish just under the 18-inch limit, and the anglers lost a few really huge redfish too, but it sure gave them a thrill in the process.

Bottom line, there is "NO OIL" in Mississippi waters and the fish are biting great.

There is no oil in our area, never has been, and now is the time to come to south Mississippi to enjoy our casinos, restaurants and seafood, world class entertainment, great southern hospitality, and most of all our excellent fishing.

And no, I haven't been to the barrier islands lately with all of the rough and rainy weather, but hope to make it out there Friday to check out the Florida pompano, bull redfish, and Spanish mackerel.

Hey, all is good here...life is short...let's fish my friends!

Regards and many thanks to all,
