Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

IT'S MORE CAST & BLAST ABOARD "TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS", WHERE THE ADVENTURES NEVER END!

First of all...GO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUPER BOWL BOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DUCK HUNTING-Ran another guided duck hunt on Saturday with more come back clients, Dr. Keith Goodfellow and attorney Brehm T.Bell, and these two gentlemen enjoyed a fun morning of gunning for diving ducks on a wind swept Mississippi Sound.

Last summer I guided Keith to a great morning of Florida pompano fishing (he caught 10), but now he wanted to try our diving duck hunting.

Had a number of great gunning opportunities with a stiff 20 knot southeast wind keeping the birds on the move, and pushing the water well into the blind. Exciting for sure!

Redheads and bluebills coperated quite well, and we enjoyed some exciting shooting as birds came eagerly to the decoys.

As usual, a number of easy thots were missed having to shoot into a stiff cross wind, but that's all part of the challenge of a good diving duck hunt.

Bottom line, my guests were a pleasure to hunt with, and took home a nice bag of ducks. Looks like the guys will be back for more fishing this summer too.

REMEMBER, Mississippi's duck season closes on JANUARY 31, 2010, so if you want a shot at diving ducks aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS you better move very fast.

Fishing continues to be good too, and my last trip resulted in a fine catch of sheepshead and black drum. Brought home 26 or so for the dinner table, and released plenty of smaller fish too.

As soon as duck season closes on SUNDAY-January 31, 2010 it will be back to fishing "full speed ahead" so be sure to hop aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS for another season of excellent light tackle inshore/barrier island fishing.

Remember, I am a full-time guide ready to go on the drop of a hat, so give me a call and let's create some fishing and duck hunting memories of your own.

Regards and many thanks to all,

Mississippi Sound Fishing Forecast:

Diving ducks, especially redheads, bluebills, and buffleheads are still on the Mississippi Sound for the taking, but the season will soon close on January 31, 2010.

Black drum and sheepshead are the main focus at this time, and on light tackle they provide top-notch fish catching fun, and they eat well too.

Redfish and speckled trout are scattered about too, and are still being caught in coastal bayous.

Barrier islands should deliver big redfish and black drum on periods of calm and warm weather, and provide excellent sight fishing opportunities.

Target Species:

(redheads, bluebills, buffleheads), sheepshead, black drum, redfish, speckled trout
