Biloxi, MS - Fowl Or Fish Get Them Now!

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
January 12, 2010
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Please Pray For Steve!!!!!!!!
Capt. Steve West of the charter boat Mr. Champ out of Biloxi is recovering from a severe stroke he suffered while deer hunting. Steve is a top-notch captain, one that I have the utmost respect for, a great family man, and just a wonderful person to know. PLEASE keep him in your prayers while he fights to make his recovery from this severe illness. Thank you!

OK folks, Mississippi's 2009-2010 duck season will be coming to a close on January 31, 2010.

We've got a good run of diving duck hunts lined up, and have some days in there for anyone wanting to book a season ending trip.

Put off hunts last week due to the extremely cold weather, but it looks like its warming up for our hunts coming up.

To make it more affordable I've reduced the season ending duck hunting prices down from $450 to $350, and that makes it a bit more affordable for one or two hunters.

We'll be doing a bit of fishing on some of these outings too, back into the Back Bay of Biloxi for redfish, sheepshead, and black drum. Before this cold spell it was excellent black "puppy" drum fishing with a few reds and big sheepshead thrown in too.

Caught and/or released over 180 black drum on 3 trips combined, an average of over 60 drum a morning was a lot of fun considering it was extremely cold on those days too.

Once the duck season ends it will be back to fishing "full speed ahead", and looking forward to getting all of my regulars and new recruits back aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS for more bay and barrier island adventures.

Last season was a banner one, yet despite my nearly 50-years fishing these waters I learn something new each trip, and hopefully will continue doing so for many years to come. That's the beauty of being able to fishing every day!

Be sure to book your Florida pompano fishing trip this summer too, a speciality fishing trip that's sure to please any angler that would like to catch a wild exotic shallow water fish that's a blast to battle on light spinning tackle.

I've spent a couple of years perfecting catching these world class eating fish, and last season my clients caught well over 300 of these flats prowlers.

Generally you'll be fishing in 1 to 2-feet of crystal-clear shallow flats, with mutiple lines set out waiting for the fish to pass through. At times mutiple hook ups occur, and then you have fish jumping in all directions. Exciting action!

Oh yeah, giant stingrays, porpoise, sharks, bull reds, bluefish, hardtails, ladyfish, cobia and jack crevalles prowl these flats too, so generally there is all sorts of sights and action.

Also, we'll have sand sea trout "white trout" and southern kingfish "ground mullet" on tap starting in late March, and these tasty and plentiful species will run through most of the year.

There are no limits on these two species, and they can be caught on popping corks or bottom rigs, ground mullet mostly on bottom rigs.

If you want to have non stop fish catching fun, well, plan a white trout trip, and be sure to bring along the kids. Your children will love the fast paced action!

And then there are the tripletail (a wonderful sight fishing experience), bull reds, speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, and flounders too, so many fish so little time.

With so many fishing adventure to think back on from last year, well, I get excited just thinking about the adventures to come in 2010 aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

So be sure to book your summer trips ahead of time, and that way you can insure you'll be able to fish when you finally get away.

Take care everyone, and hope to be fishing with all of you once again in the near future.

Regards and many thanks to all,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
