Biloxi, MS - More Reds, Specks, Sheepshead, & Black Drum In Bay

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
December 10, 2009
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Wednesday I had the pleasure to guide Rodney Atkinson from Freeport, Minnesota to a day of light tackle fishing on the Back Bay of Biloxi.

And let me just say, the bay water was muddy and fresh, tide was low and falling, and a norther was approaching fast.

Not good fishing conditions at all! However, our first stop in the sheepshead hole proved to be dead, no bite at all. From there decided to run to the mouth of the bay, and try and fish deeper and cleaner water.

The move proved to be the right one, and in no time Rodney had the time of his life catching his 3-fish limit of nice redfish on light spinning tackle.

Oh, he lost a few monsters too, but he said he had just as much fun fighting them before they cut him off on concrete pilings and rubble on the bay's bottom.

Heck, he even caught two black drum and two sheepshead, and released 5 or 6 small redfish in the process.

Once the cold front hit with strong winds we had to find another spot to fish out of the wind, and then we ran to the front beach and fished by the casinos.

There, Rodney added 6 beautiful speckled trout to his creel, and had fun landing them using popping corks and live shrimp.

Have to admit, starting out in the morning in fog thick as pea soup, and all of the other conditions against us I was a bit nervous, but Rodney fished hard, kept after it, and was rewarded with a fine catch of bay dwellers.

LET'S DUCK HUNT! By the way, I've got the duck boat ready to go, and going hunting tomorrow with a couple of friends, and will report back on the duck situtation soon. Remember, TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS specializes in guided diving duck hunts too.

These hunts go for $450 for two hunters, and myself and an assistant guide will be there to make sure things go smoothly and safely.

Hey, if you like the "bite" or the "flight" give me a call and we'll go enjoy the many bounties south Mississippi has to offer.
