Biloxi, MS - Weather Cleares And The Hot Bite Continues!

Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

For weeks on end rain and wind have been hard on fishing conditions, but this weekend the winds subsided, the weather warmed up, and the hot bite in the Mississippi Sound was on again.

Had both Saturday and Sunday booked, and on each day my clients enjoyed the fast fish catching action of sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout" and southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet".

Both trips consisted of a father and son duo, on Saturday it was Greg Pittman and his son Marcus from Atlanta, GA, and on Sunday it was John Adametz and his son Spencer of Biloxi, MS. Both wonderful groups to fish with, and fish they did.

On a short afternoon outing Greg and Marcus landed 89 of the tasty fish, and today John and Spencer boated an even 100. What can I say, it was excellent light tackle action using fresh dead squid and shrimp for bait.

Our simple bottom rigs were made up of 30-pound-test Seaguar fluorocarbon leader material, 1/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Hooks, and one-ounce bell and disk sinkers. Also, today we caught our first small sharks of the season, a bonnethead, and a couple of small blacktips.

By the way, a close friend hammered the speckled trout and bull redfish in the Louisiana marsh today, and I now have my yearly $1000.00 (Yes, it's that expensive!) Louisiana Guide License to run trips from Mississippi's mainland to the Cajun marsh realm. Louisiana trips are an all day affair $550.00, but a fun trip to experience, especially when the trout and reds are biting.

Broke in the new 2170 Blazer Bay really good with the first two charter trips, and looking for hundreds of great fish catching adventures in the future. Looks like the rest of the week is going to be nice, so give me a call and let's go fishing!

Remember...life is short...let's fish!
