Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
October 26, 2005
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Speckled Trout Bonanza

The peak of speckled trout season is definitely here. Today we caught a 3 person limit (45) of 14" to 17" trout in about one hour. We also had 6 redfish in the 6 to 10 pound range.

The specks are hitting cocahoe jigs the best...every cast it seemed. I also threw a rattletrap just for fun and caught some on that too.

I expect the next four weeks to be consistent with the catch today and the same pattern we fished. The school trout will be easy to locate and easy to limit out on. The bigger trout are in the river too, so we will be trying to keep up with their movements and feeding patterns over the next month.

The next four weeks or so will be full of fast action and big numbers. Don't miss out on it.
