Mississippi Sound & the Pascagoula River Marsh

Capt. Barry Brown
July 21, 2007
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Live Pogy Producing Limits of Reds

The redfish are feeding well on live pogy. In recent trips we have limited out in less than an hour on reds. If you hit those schools when they are feeding it doesn't take long to fill up a box. More often, though, we catch a couple here and another few there, which makes for a more interesting trip.

The few speckled trout we catch this time of year are monsters. Very few of them lately have been less than four pounders. But realize, this is not the best time of year for speckled trout fishing in these marshes. Speckled trout fishing will pick up starting around September. That's when you can catch a limit of trout, sometimes BIG trout.

If you want to get in on the fall speckled trout migration be sure to book your trip soon. You will want to reserve a date from mid-September through late November.
