Top Water Heating Up

Capt. Barry Brown
April 1, 2008
Pascagoula River - Saltwater Fishing Report

Over the past several days the water temperature has been climbing and is now over 70 degrees. The trout are still a little scattered from all of the rains we had a few weeks ago, but when you find the trout they are feeding aggressively. They are hitting the top water without hesitation.

The trout are showing up in some of our favorite up-river holes; another sign that the river is recovering from the rains. We landed several 3 pounders over the weekend in these spots.

The reds have been very elusive this week with one exception. We found one hole that had a bunch of 'em in it. Most of them were 5 to 6 pounds, but we did catch a few 10 pounders out of that school. Live bait was the key for these reds.
