Table Rock in Branson, MO Fishing Report

Capt. Eric Prey
November 7, 2010
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake - Table Rock
11/7/10:
Kimberling City Area: Shorter days and colder night time temperatures have driven water temperatures into the lower sixties in the mid lake. While still not "stacked up" fish are moving into shallow water and feeding on shad and crawfish. Smallmouth are showing up ten feet deep and less early and late searching for crawdads on pea gravel and mixed rock and gravel points. Chompers tubes and Jewel Squirrel heads with creature baits have been very effective in these locals. Largemouth have moved shallow as well, holding close to shallow brush and other cover. Jewel football jigs worked through brush will produce nice fish.

James River: The James has turned on big time over the past week; spinnerbaits in cedar tops, football jigs on ledges and points and wiggle warts on rocky banks have all been effective patterns. Chompers McCutchen spinner baits burned and paused in cedar tops are producing some very big fish right now; multiple casts and patience is key to this bite. Wind blown rocky banks are producing a mixed bag, work wiggle warts five to ten feet deep parallel to the bank maintaining bottom contact throughout the retrieve. Finally, Jewel football jigs worked on rocky ledge banks toward the back of major creeks has produced some very nice fish in the middle of the day, work the bait from the bank over the ledge paying close attention as the bait falls.

White River: The same patterns that are working throughout the mid lake have been effective in the white river; Chompers tubes on shallow gravel points and flats, Jewel Squirrel heads on mixed gravel and rock points and Jewel football jigs have been productive and around shallow cover through out the White River. Further up in the Kings River there are a couple of shallow patterns growing stronger everyday; Lucky Craft RC crankbaits worked around laydowns and other shallow cover have produced both numbers and quality. Work the shady side of laydowns to be effective. The cedar tree spinnerbait bite has been much better in the Kings River, isolated cedars are best with most fish coming off of the shady side of the tree.

Dam Area: The smallmouth bite has been the story on the lower end; shallow points and flats have fish roaming on them early and late, Chompers tubes and Jewel Squirrel heads with creature baits are working less than ten feet deep early and late in the day. As the sun rises move out to fifteen to twenty feet deep and use Jewel PB&J football jigs with green pumpkin J Tail trailers, a hopping retrieve has been the most effective. The dock bite has come on strong over the past week as well: Eakins jig and craw combos pitched to the walkway of large commercial docks has been producing quality fish throughout the lower end.
