Branson: Water temperatures continue to fall with shorter days and lower nighttime temperatures. On average surface temps are in the lower sixties in Branson. Fishing guides continue to find smallmouth holding on shallow gravel willing to take Tightlines UV and Chompers tubes from 5' – 15' deep, gravel points and pockets with a little ledge rock tend to be more productive than pure pea gravel. Windblown banks will hold a mix of smallmouth and largemouth both of which are susceptible to Storm Wiggle Warts and Bandit 300 crankbaits.

Kimberling City: Shallow fishing is even stronger in the Kimberling City area as in Branson. Fishing guide trips this last week saw fish being taken on a variety of presentations; tubes and Jewel spider jigs on gravel and mixed gravel and rock points and pockets, Wiggle Warts and other crankbaits on windy banks and Eakins jigs around boat docks have all been very successful patterns in the Mid Lake.

James River: The coldest water on the lake is in the James River. Early in the day water temps in the mid 50's can be found in stained, shallow water in the backs on larger creeks. This same water will warm very quickly on sunny days and fish have been following shad into the backs of these creeks and can be caught around any cover present. Buzzbaits and Chompers spinnerbaits have been great options around the cover in the afternoon; make casts beyond the cover and work both baits in and around shady areas to draw strikes.

White River: Several patterns working right now in the White River. Much like in Branson fishing guides are having success on Tightlines and Chompers tubes on mixed gravel and ledge points and pockets. Early and late there is a very good topwater bite around cedar trees, make sure to cast the lure well beyond the tree and work it back as close to the tree as possible to draw strikes. Spotted bass are moving shallower on the White as well; look for most be between 10'-15' deep using gravel points to move up from deeper water. Jewel football jigs and Squirrel heads with Tightlines finesse worms have been great choices for targeting spots.
