Branson: Despite shorter days, the warmer weather has kept water temperatures steady over the past week. Most of the lake has surface temps holding around 60 degrees including Branson. Fishing guides continue to find fish holding shallow early in the day, with smallmouth being caught less than 10' on gravel points on Tightlines UV and Chompers tubes. As the sun rises the bite does get a little tougher with most of the fish moving out deeper making Jewel Spider and football jigs the better choice.

Kimberling City: Wind and cloud cover are keys to success in the mid lake area. A few fish can be caught early on tubes following the same pattern as in Branson. Fishing guides have had more success in Kimberling on Jewel Squirrel heads using Tightlines UV finesse worms and beavers. Look for points and pockets that have ledge rock mixed with the gravel to be successful. Windy and cloudy days will move fish shallow and make them more aggressive; Chompers Spinnerbaits and Storm Wiggle Warts have been very effective on transition banks throughout the mid lake.

James River: The stained water of the James continues to keep fish shallow in the James River. Look for fish to be holding in transition areas where rock changes over to a mix of gravel and or ledge and gravel. Shallow crankbaits and Chompers spinnerbaits have been key presentations in these areas look for wood or other cover and make multiple casts to the cover to draw strikes. There has been a good flipping bite starting to show up as well, concentrate on shallow pockets with a lot of wood cover and make multiple pitches with Jewel Eakins Finesse Flippin' jigs.

White River: The White River continues to be the most diverse portion of the lake. Fish can be caught in less than a foot of water all the way out to 35' deep. Smallmouth can be caught on Tightlines UV and Chompers tubes on gravel points just like in Branson. Fishing guides are also doing well slightly deep with Jewel Squirrel heads and finesse worms on gravel to rock transitions. On windy days a Chompers spinnerbait has been the best option around standing timber on points in the larger creek arms. Schools of spotted bass can be caught on Webb Tail spoons and drop shot rigs 25' – 35' deep on main lake gravel points.
