Table Rock Lake Fishing Is Picking Up

Capt. Jamie Kowalsky
March 8, 2011
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

The lake level is 909.25 and slowly rising. The water temps in the dam area are 45-48 degrees. The fishing is different each day as one day you can catch quite a few and the next you struggle for a few bites.A lot has to do with the weather conditions and the time of day.As always on Table Rock,if you have sunny skies and no wind the fishing gets tough. When this happens I have been going to the back ends of pockets and coves and trowing a salt and pepper grub on a quarter ounce heads.I'm keeping the boat in 15-20 feet of water and slowly swimming it back keeping it close to the bottom.I'm catching some smallmouth using this technique. When the wind is blowing I'm fishing the jerkbait or a wiggle wart crankbait on the points and channel swings.I'm catching largemouth doing this. The spotted bass are still deep but should be showing up shallow soon. There are some big fish moving right now. There were two 8 pounders and two 7 pounders caught this weekend.I also seen a picture of a 7 1/4 pound spotted bass caught. That was just a half a pound from the state record. Till next time Good Fishin' < Jamie
