Branson: Fishing guides have seen a change since the cold snap came through a couple of days ago. Surface temperatures have dropped a degree or two and the shad have begun to move shallower and back into the creeks in larger groups. Early in the day topwater baits have still been effective on the lower end, spooks, Sammies and pop-r's are still the most productive offerings when fish are chasing shad in the shallows. As the sun comes up a Jewel Pro Spider jig or Squirrel head has been working on mixed gravel and rock points from the bank to around 15' deep.

Kimberling City: On cloudy or windy days Branson fishing guides have been targeting shallow fish with fast moving baits; War Eagle spinnerbaits in mouse or spot remover have been effective on rocky banks with wind on them, look toward the mouths of creeks to be the more productive areas. Storm wiggle warts and bandit 300 crankbaits have been working in these same areas; parallel the bank from the bank to around 8' deep to be successful. On calm days these same banks will produce with a Jewel Pro Spider jig or a BPS Tender tube 5' – 18' deep.

James River: Most of the fish have been shallow in the James River. Branson fishing guides have been targeting shallow wood cover on main lake flats and in the larger creek arms with a variety of baits. Early in the day or when it is cloudy a buzz bait has been hard to beat around this cover, make casts from different angles and try to hit each side of the cover before moving on. War Eagle spinnerbaits and Storm wiggle warts are very effective on windy days fished parallel on steeper banks. On calm days pitch Jewel Magnum casting jigs to shallow wood cover paying close attention shady areas.

White River: Branson fishing guides continue to find success throughout the White River; shallow fishing with War Eagle Spinnerbaits and Bandit crankbaits when it's windy. Jewel Pro Spider Jigs and Squirrel heads on calm sunny days will work on mixed rock and gravel points from 8' – 20' deep. There is still a strong deep bite around deep trees with a Webb tail spoon around 35' – 55' deep.

Generation has been limited to afternoon hours making the fishing a little tougher, cooler weather does have the trout on the move. Here are the top patterns working for Branson fishing guides this past week.
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float in creek arms from Fall Creek to below Monkey Island.
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover from Cooper Creek through Branson.
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Live night crawlers on a drift rig cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats is a dominate pattern
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
