Branson: Fishing guide trips have been limited since the snow came through on Sunday, before the snow there were a couple of strong patterns on the lower end. The deep bite continues to produce both numbers and quality; Jewel Scuba Spoons and Rapala Jigging Raps are still the baits of choice. Look for fish to be holding a little shallower than in the past few weeks, with most coming from 35' – 45' deep close to trees and brush on the bottom. Bass Pro Shops XPS grubs have begun to produce as well; gravel points and flats near deep water have been the best locations. Most of the fish are still fairly deep so a 3/8 oz. head and either milky salt and pepper or smoke copper flake have been the best combos. Look for fish to be close to the bottom from 25' – 35' deep.

Kimberling City: The deep bite is the same in Kimberling City as it is in Branson. Fishing guides are using Jewel Scuba Spoons and Rapala Jigging Raps over deep brush and trees from 35' – 45' deep to put spotted bass in the boat. The Bass Pro XPS grub bite has been strong here as well, look for fish to be on gravel points from 25' – 35' deep, scrub the bottom with the grub to draw strikes. Mega Bass Vision 110 and SPRO McStick stickbaits have been effective on channel swing transitions in the larger creek arms as well, look for areas where ledge rock changes to chunk rock and fish from the bank to 25' deep.

James River: Umbrella rigs have been producing some quality fish in the James River this past week as seen at a buddy tournament over the weekend. Keitech and Zoom Swimmin Flukes have been the baits of choice on a rig and most of the fish are coming close to wood cover on main lake and secondary points in the larger creek arms. Most of the fish have been from 15' – 25' deep. Branson fishing guides have also been successful with Jewel Magnum Casting Jigs on calm sunny days; look for fish to be holding tight to wood cover or boat docks from 10' – 20' deep on steeper rocky banks.

White River: Just like in Branson fishing guides are doing well in the White River on a deep bite; Jewel Scuba Spoons and Rapala Jigging Raps have been the most popular options. Fish have been holding on deep brush and trees from 35' – 45' deep very close to the bottom. Mega Bass and SPRO stickbaits continue to produce on channel swing banks and steep ledge rock points, wind helps this bite immensely. Jewel Magnum casting jigs have been very effective further up the White, look for channel banks in the larger creek arms and cast jigs from shallow to deep, work the jig through the channel to draw strikes.

All or nothing generation this past week has made fishing a little more challenging. The Corps of Engineers has been running 3 – 4 generators for an hour or two in the morning and then nothing the rest of the day. Fishing has been good either way, but current always makes the trout a little more frisky. Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:

With Current:
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Live night crawlers on a drift rig cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats
• Without Current
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float. .
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
