Branson: Fishing guides are finding fish shallower now that the lake has stabilized. Several fish are being caught on drop shot rigs 24' – 35' deep on long gravel main lake points. UV finesse worms, Chompers drop shot worms and Yamamoto Cut Tail worms have all been effective; fish the bait right on the bottom to draw strikes from fish holding tight to the bottom. Further up Long Creek there is a great shallow bite on gravel points 7' – 15' deep on Jewel Pro Spider Jigs and Squirrel Heads, gradual sloping points are better than steep ones.

Kimberling City: The shallow bite is stronger in the Kimberling City than in Branson. Fishing guides are targeting fish on main lake and secondary gravel points with Jewel Spider Jigs, Squirrel heads with Beavers and Speed Craws and Bass Pro Shops Tender Tubes. As the current decreases this week fish will begin to suspend more and more, look for them to move back to deep tree tops and channel swing points. Target these fish with Jewel Classic Spin-X and Dixie Jet Spoons.

James River: Flood waters have left a lot of debris floating in the upper portion of the James, from Piney on up to above Cape Fair there are a number of floating logs and other debris. As of right now the debris is slowly moving down lake and is passable if you take your time. The dirty water of the James is holding fish shallow; flipping and pitching the shallow bushes and other cover as close to the bank as possible has been the best technique. Jewel Magnum Casting Jigs, Texas rigged brush hogs and big worms have been the best option.

White River: The White River is still the most productive areas of the lake; Branson fishing guides have been having the most success from Baxter to Shell Knob focusing on flat gravel main lake and secondary points. Jewel Pro Spider jigs, Bass Pro Shops Tender Tubes and Jewel Squirrel heads with speed craws or beavers have been the best offerings. Most of the fish are holding tight to the old bank line around 10' deep and out to around 15' deep. There are a few fish suspending in trees on channel swing points as well, these fish will become more plentiful as the current is slowed. Jewel Classic Spin-X, Dixie Jet Spoons and drop shot rigs have all been effective on these fish.

The Corps has a plan in place to lower the lake level on Taneycomo to repair the air bladder system on Power Site Dam. They are effectively lowering the lake four feet for the next week. This should not affect the fishing but running above Fall Creek will become treacherous. Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:

• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a couple of floats 6' – 8' down.
• Night Crawlers on a drift rig have been a great option from Fall Creek to Cooper Creek.
• Egg and scud fly dropper rigs are working on drift rigs from Short Creek to Monkey Island.
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
