Striped Bass Fishing week ending 7/27/08

Capt. Joel Koch
July 27, 2008
Portsmouth - Saltwater Fishing Report

The week started out good with nice weather and good fishing on Monday and Tuesday.
By Wed, the weather started to roll in and rain. Thursday was the first day this year I canceled a trip and thankfully I did as the rain, and lightning never let up. Parts of NH actually had tornados come through but the seacoast was spared. Certainly a wise decision to reschedule this trip though.
Friday the weather cleared and I was able to get back on the water. The water clarity from the storms however made it look like mud. Brown water was everywhere.
I was able to get everyone into fish on Friday as well as Saturday, and the fishing actually was pretty good. Certainly the fish were reacting to the smell of the bait vs. the visual aspects.
Hopefully the clarity will get better quickly as it does make for better fishing overall.
