First Striper trip of 2012 a big success

Capt. Karl McKenna
April 10, 2012
Sandy Hook - Saltwater Fishing Report

Made the first trip of the spring in some pretty tough conditions with nw winds 15 to 25knts. It was hard to feel the lite bite of the striper with the cold water and the bouncy conditions. The Bass were feeding heavy though and we came up with empty hooks a lot, but when you did feel the fish it was not hard to set the hook and the fight was on.We boated lots of keepers up to about 18 lbs.with some shorts mixed in. There are plenty of hungry fish out there and it is a very good start to the season.

Sandy Hook Fishing Forecast:

Looks very good for the spring run this year with fish feeding aggressively at every drop.

Target Species:

Striped Bass
