San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Hello Everyone,
The river is flowing at 470 cfs. The visibility is around 2-3 feet. The river is fishing good overall. The upper areas are stacked with fish in the slower deeper runs. #20 Red larva's and a #24-26 black or dark gray midge pupa's and emergers. Egg, Golden nugget, or Oregon cheese egg patterns are working.
Texas Hole on down to the Death Row has fishing great with above egg patterns to a #18-20 flash red larva has been the hot rig. #22-26 gray, cream or olive larva's are also working. #24 gray scintilla bubble midge or #24 gray crystal flash wing midge. Beatis bend is still having a fair beatis hatch late am into mid afternoon. Small gray post Adams, or bwo patterns will get heads up and gulping. From Simon Canyon on down to the take out is fishing good with a small gray trico,s and midges coming off in the early pm. Spawning fish in the gravel bars on their reds. I prefer to leave the pairs alone and target the fish below the reds and pair. The snow is slowly disappearing and yesterday was a really nice day to be on the Juan. Tight lines to All,
