New Mexico Fishing Report for The San Juan River

Capt. Mark Nesbit
February 17, 2003
San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report

San Juan River is Flowing at 330 cfs, the water is off colored Visibility is about 3'. Fishing has been good..The fishing is getting hot. Nymphing has been good with large fish being caught thru-out the river system. Worms and eggs have been productive. Small red, pink, or orange larva #24's have been doing well.

Beatis patterns like pheasant tails, rs2, chocolate foam wings have been working well in the faster water in late am, early PM. Large wooly buggers, streamer’s, and leeches fished in the slower deep water might hook up with jaws with an attitude. I seen a few heads rising today in Duranglers. Water is trying to clear depending on average temp. and how it effects the lake.
