San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report
New fishing report as of 7/5/04
Hello everyone,
Fishing report updated 7/5/ 04
The river flow is around 460 cfs, the river clarity is 4-5 feet. The river fishes best for me at 450-600cfs river flow. I am real happy with this flow. The dry fly fishing has started. The ant fall was last Tuesday. It was good in some parts of the river and lots of ants on the water and no rising fish. Then in other pparts of the river the fish where gulping ants hard, size16 black ants. I was up on the lake where the carp went nut’s on the ant fall. My belly has bruise’s all over from digging that rod handle into my gut fighting those rubber lipped rascals. As far as the river goes, the whole river is fishing good. The upper waters is fishing good early using midge larva and pupas. The lower waters is fishing good with a late afternoon PMD hatch. The caddis are happening now to.
Tight Lines to all,
Mark.
