San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report
Hello everyone,
Fishing report updated 11/12/ 04
The river flow is around 244 cfs, the river clarity is 4-5 feet. The upper river is fishing good.. The fish are eating a size 24 gray midge larva . I like using a tmc 200r hook. Sight fishing is good in the upper flats, and braids. Fall is here and winter is coming, the browns are spawning, the rainbows will soon. Try egg patterns. The Nymphing has been good with midges in the am, and a beatis hatch in the afternoon. Technical tip. Try agitating egg patterns in slow water, using a hard down steam mend hopping the indicator 2-3" inches with a fair amount of weight. After you mend be ready for a hard strike.
Tight Lines,
Mark.
