Lake Ontario, Oneida Lake, Sandy Pond Fishing Report

Capt. Troy Creasy
July 6, 2009
Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

This weekend is the 15th Annual Oswego County Pro-Am Tournament. Hundreds of top anglers from across the Northeast will be competing for cash and prizes.
The weigh station is located behind Best Western Captain's Quarters Hotel. Weigh-in begins at 2:30pm each day (Sat. and Sun). Feel free to stop by and catch the excitement. For more infromation see the complete press release in our latest news section.

King Salmon are finally showing up along the eastern shoreline of Lake Ontario. The weekend was pretty much a bust with high winds and cold temps, but a few that did get out, found some fish.
Local charter captains are finding the salmon from 90 to 150 feet down oven 150 to 300 feet. Start early with white e-chips and white flies and then switch to green and chrome echips or Spin Drs and green atomik-flies flies as the sun gets higher in the sky.

There has been some bass and northern pike action on Sandy pond and Lakeview Marsh, especially along the weed lines. Cast spinnerbaits, rubberworms, small crankbaits and of course don't forget the jitterbugs and buzzbaits for some hot top water action.

Now is a great time to schedule a fishing trip.. The kids are out of school, the fishing is good and area captains are available for lake charters. Just log on to Lakeontariooutdoors.com There you will find, daily fishing reports, numerous links to great sites and area businesses, as well as lake charters and river guides.
