Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Wednesday January 29, 2014.
The continued frigid weather has iced over all but a small portion of the tributaries within Orleans County.
On Oak Orchard River the area from the dam to down past the Archer's Club and also the area around the Lyndonville dam have open water.
For those brave souls who are willing to be on the tributaries, some action is taking place on the Oak with Steelhead/Rainbow trout and an occasional Brown trout being taken.
For those "Hard Water Fishermen" the picture is much better.
On Lake Alice the prominent fish being taken thru the ice are Bluegills, mainly on Otter Creek and then around the Kenyonville Bridge.
Ice fishing on Oak Orchard River is producing Perch, Northern Pike and sometimes Trout.
Various live baits and small jigs are proving to be the ticket to success.
With a chance of a slight warm up this weekend, still not above freezing, it might be a good time for those who like less harsh conditions to get on the ice.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
