Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday February 5, 2014.
Well the cold weather has just about all of the tributaries within Orleans County in a solid state.
There is a small amount of open water at the Lyndonville Dam on Johnson Creek and then from the power plant to just North of the Archer's Club on Oak Orchard River.
Even with all of the ice forming on our tributaries, there doesn't seem to be too much action going on.
The only good report that I have received is Bluegills on Otter Creek.
Live bait and small silver spoons seem to be providing the best action.
Those who are hardy are still getting a few Steelhead/Rainbow trout along with an occasional Brown trout in the open waters of the Oak from the Power plant to the Archer's Club.
With a good deal of snow predicted for today thru tomorrow and colder temperatures for the rest of the week, mother nature is not giving us any break.
One theory for the slow fishing conditions is that the fish have moved to a warmer climate until temperatures reach more favorable conditions around here.
Until then lets continue to try to make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County, which has the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing town USA, Point Breeze on Lake Ontario.
