Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Tuesday December 30, 2014.
Our weather is finally looking more like winter than it has in the past week or so.
With daytime highs hovering around the freezing mark and nighttime lows dipping into the teens and no significant precipitation in the near future, icing conditions should start to occur on the smaller tributaries within Orleans County.
Even with the colder temperatures and lower water flows, action has been in the moderate range on the Oak with decent numbers of both Brown and Steelhead/Rainbow trout being taken.
On Johnson, Marsh and Sandy Creeks fishing is pretty much held to the deeper pools until such time as we get better water flows.
On the lower stretches of the Oak catches of Perch and Northern pike have slowed somewhat but that may change as temperatures settle into more season like conditions.
On Lake Alice fishermen are still catching some Bass (catch and release) and some Perch.
Again with the more seasonable weather ice should start forming which should be good news for the solid water fishermen.
With this being the last report of the 2014 I hope that each of you have a prosperous, healthy and safe 2015 with fish so big that none of us have to lie about them.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
