Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday April 8, 2015.
Even though rain is predicted for 7 of the next 10 days, the warmer weather has really brought the entire fishery within Orleans County to life.
The near shore waters of Lake Ontario are producing some great Brown trout by utilizing stick baits and flutter spoons off planer boards, on very shallow riggers and just long lining them.
Those fishing from the shoreline and from jetties are also doing well using stick baits and casting spoons.
The tributaries within Orleans County still have good numbers of Steelhead trout in them from the lake all the way to the first impasse.
Along with the Trout other species are starting to show up including Suckers, Perch, Walleye and some Bass.
Lake Alice has sprung into life with Rock Bass, Perch, Bluegills, Channel Cats and Smallmouth Bass.
It won't be long before the Erie Canal starts regaining its water and offers even more fishing opportunities.
Remember that the Spring LOC Derby begins on May first this year so get those entries in.
Lastly, Thank You to all of the volunteers that helped assemble the pen rearing pens.
Stay tuned for news of when we will be receiving the fish for the pens.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
