Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Wednesday May 13, 2015.
Weather temperatures have returned to more normal levels and should remain there over the next week or so.
With rain mixed in sporadically, let's hope that we get enough to help with lower lake levels that we are experiencing.
Fishing on Lake Alice is doing well with Bluegill and Crappie being the main catches but Northern pike and Perch also showing up with an occasional Walleye in the mix.
No reports yet of the fishing on the Erie Canal.
It's hard to believe but there are still an occasional Steelhead being caught around the Archer's Club area but that should be very short lived as those fish migrate back to the waters of Lake Ontario.
At the area bridges area on the "Oak" mixed bag catches are being reported but it seems to be hit and miss.
People fishing Johnson Creek are reporting fair to good fishing all the way up to the Lyndonville Dam area.
On Lake Ontario fishing for all the cold water species is on the upswing as waters finally start to warm up.
One report has good fishing in the 140 to 150 feet on water range with a surface temperature in the high 40 degree range.
Lake trout, Steelhead and Chinook salmon made up the majority of the catch.
Congratulations go out to the top finishers in both the LOC Spring Derby and also the Wilson Invitational.
Both events just go to show the great fishery that this summer will provide for those who wish to experience it.
