Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday June 3, 2015.
Last weekend was the first of two Pro-Am Tournaments that take place in Niagara County each year.
Congratulations to Team Thrillseeker for their 1st place finish in the 12 fish Classic Division and to Team Yankee Troller for their 1st place finish in the 5 fish Trophy Division.
This normally two day event was weather shortened this year by a small craft advisory issued on Sunday of the event.
This coming weekend will be the 2nd leg of the Niagara Pro-Am Series.
June 13 and 14 will see the 2nd annual Oak Orchard Open take place.
This young Tournament features a very challenging format in that contestants can only weigh in a total of 10 fish of which 5 have to be salmon and 5 have to be trout only 3 of which can be Lake trout.
With this many tournaments taking place on the west end of Lake Ontario in such a short period of time, there are not too many who are willing to share their secret hot spots right now.
I did get some information from one boat crew that said they had a very good day right out front of the harbor with a mixed bag of fish but that was as much information as they would share.
On Lake Alice fishing has slowed a bit but they are still catching both Bluegill and Crappie, especially around the Kenyonville Bridge, along with an occasional Northern pike and of course those catch and release bass.
I still haven't been able to get any reports on the fishing in the Erie Canal but I have to believe that the wide waters area is offering some great fishing opportunities.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Networks Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
