Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday July 1, 2015.
The northeast winds of the past weekend have managed to push cold water closer to the southern shore on Lake Ontario.
The long range weather forecast is for more east and north east winds through the week, which means that cold water will remain as inside water.
Boats are going out to at least the 33 line to find warmer water and some fish.
It sounds like the junk lines are taking more fish than the riggers are.
What we really need is some northwest winds to move that warmer water back to the inside where it belongs.
As of today there are still no entries of salmon on the LOC Summer Leader Board.
Salmon have to be at least 20 pounds to be eligible for entry.
Last Saturday was the 5th Annual Glenwood Lake Carp Derby.
Although the rain dampened the spirits of some of the contestants, the event was still a success with over 70 entrants.
Today starts the 25th Annual Erie Canal Derby which runs through July 12th this year.
Eligible waters of the canal are from the Niagara River to the Route 98 Bridge in Albion.
This is a great time to take a kid fishing along the historic canal, unwind and enjoy nature at its best.
On Lake Alice catches of Rock bass, Crappie, Bluegill and bass are still being reported.
On the "Oak" some great catches of bass are being taken as well as Northern pike.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the Rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
