Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday July 8, 2015.
After the first 20 days of the LOC Summer Derby has gone by, on July 3rd the first Salmon finally appeared on the leader board.
With almost 3 weeks left in the Derby there is still plenty of time to enter and then catch that big one.
The Erie Canal Derby is well underway with some great fish being entered in all categories.
This Derby ends on July 12th this year.
On Saturday July 18th the second leg of the King of the Oak Series will take place. Boats must fishing out of the "Oak" and you must be in the weigh-in line by 3 PM.
Back by popular demand is the Drew's Crew Casting for a cure for Juvenile Diabetes on July 25th.
Entry fee is $50.00 with half of the monies going to Juvenile Diabetes research and the other half for pay outs to the top 3 finishers.
Both the King of the Oak and Drew's Crew Derbies are based on you 3 biggest fish and you can only bring 3 fish to the weight-in.
What a great way to enjoy a day of fishing on Lake Ontario while supporting this very worthwhile cause.
Improving weather conditions to more summer like temperatures should steadily improve the fishing on Lake Ontario.
Fishermen are taking Lake trout in the 70 to 110 foot range with bigger Lake trout coming from the deeper depths.
Steelhead and salmon are showing up in the 28 to 29 line area but there are a lot of smaller fish that you have to go through to come up with a decent catch.
It still seems that the junk lines are doing better than the riggers for now.
The smaller inland lakes, Glenwood Lake and Lake Alice, are still producing Bass, Bluegill, Crappie and Carp but in less numbers than earlier in the season.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
