Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday July 15, 2015.
Hard Northeast winds today are keeping everybody off of Lake Ontario.
Earlier this week fishing was starting to really set up with better catches of both Steelhead and Chinook salmon being taken.
From one report that I received it seemed like spoons were out and flasher/fly combinations were taking most of the fish.
Junk lines, including copper lines, lead lines and dipsy divers were still out producing downrigger setups.
Varying overall depths that were mentioned were from 100 to 300 feet of water, and depending on whom you talked to; fish were being taken from 20 to 90 feet down.
Let's hope that today's blow doesn't do too much damage to the water temperatures.
With only 11 days left in the Summer LOC Derby, there is still time to go out and catch that trophy fish for the leader board.
This Saturday, July 18, is the second leg of the King of the Oak Derby.
You must be entered by 7 AM that day and weigh-in for your biggest 3 fish will take place between 2 and 3 PM at Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina.
Next Saturday, July 25th, will be the Drew's Crew Derby supporting research for a cure to juvenile diabetes.
This is a great chance to have a great day on the water while supporting a very worthwhile cause.
The Erie Canal Fishing Derby ended on July 12th with some great weights being reported.
Don't forget that the Orleans County Rotary Derby starts August 1st and runs thru the 16th.
On Lake Alice there are still a good number of Bass being caught as well as Bluegill, Crappie and some Walleye.
The Erie Canal offers a cornucopia of fish species for you to enjoy while enjoying the beauty of the canal system.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
