Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

we took out ralph and his buddies on a shark trip out of moriches. we ran S/E in the vicinity of an uncharted wreck and set up our slick in clear 74 degree water. within 5 minutes we had a mako cruise by the boat not taking any of our baits that were set at 90,75,60 and 30 ft down. he didnt come close enough for a pitch bait to be thrown to him. we had some runoffs with no hook ups with the bait beig eaten. then an hour later we hooked up to a feisty 75 lb mako pup that tim made quick work of. we took some pics then tagged and released him to grow up. next up was ken with a young 90 lb. female tagged and released. then it was ralphs turn. he fought an estimated 150 lb. mako but in the heat of battle put the reel in full strike on the lever drag and broke off a nice fish! bummer! oh well thse things can happen if your not careful. there are plenty of sharks out there and plenty of season left to catch them!
tight lines!
