Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

We took out the Ralph Milone charter consisting of 5 NYPD Officers and joes 11 yr old son alex. 3 of the guys turned green on this trip with the 4-6' swells. little 11 yr old alex handled it like a true champ! We set out to the 25 fathom fingers south of Moriches. water quality was dirty 72 degrees. but we saw bait being harrassed in the area so we set up our slick. no action on our 1st can of chum. on our 2nd can we had a Female mako pup aprox 70 lbs. come in for a snack. she tore apart a bluefish fillet and missed the hook. we put on a bunker and set the hook. gave the rod to Joe and he made quick work of her and after a few pics we tagged and released her. after that we had some baits cut in half missing the hook. on our 3rd can of chum we had a male mako pup aprox 60 lbs come up the slick and take a bunker bait. tim made quick work of him and we took pics and tagged and released him to grow up. no other action.
