Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Capt. Robin G Calitri
March 22, 2005
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Getting started for 2005

Here we go again! It was so beautiful today, March 22, 2005 so I just unwrapped the boat and launched out of Huntington. I checked out some of my early season spots. The water temperature was 39 degrees. I found nothing. I went out and found some warm water. I settled in some artificially heated 54-degree water. After a few minutes, I found schools of Bass in very shallow water. The Lenco Trollin Tabs allowed me to maneuver silently and sight fish. I used and olive and white clouser on my Ten weight Orvis TLS with a full sink line. I caught a few schoolies and felt that I got the winter pox off so I switched to my Sage Xi2, 8 weight with an intermediate line. I used a white , grey and pink clouser and caught some more. It was great just to watch the schools moving over a shallow sand bar. What a great day! Captain Robin Calitri, [email protected]
