Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Capt. Robin G Calitri
May 3, 2005
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Captain Robin Calitri reports that the fishing is hit or miss for the bass in Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington. Jim Del Grosso has been doing a nice job with the fly rod in the ‘back Country’ around Gardiner’s Bay. Peter Chan and I did a three-boat event for John McMurray on Jamaica Bay. Rob of the Anglers Den in Pawling, NY arranged the trip. I lucked out with three fine fishermen who caught about 35 stripers including two keepers. Some were even on the top. Todd, Vick and Bill Cody picked away all day while some of the other boats watched. Brendan McCarthy was out there doing a fine job for his clients. As per fly color: if it ain’t chartreuse, it ain’t no use. The fish are really moving into all the regular New York spots and if you don’t get out in May, you miss some of the basst action.
