Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Capt. Robin G Calitri
August 17, 2005
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

I am so excited about the prospects about fishing in the New York area right now. There are all kinds of exotics around. Mahi, Cobia and Bluefin. At least one East End guide reported chasing a tarpon around. Go figure. I took David Kamansky and Bill Herzig out in Huntington today. They did a great job with 2-4 ound blues on poppers. It was amazing to see a fish miss the plug three or four times on a cast. There is tons of bait around Huntington Bay. There are confirmed reports of Bonito to the east and at the Norwalk Islands. Next week I’ll chase albies and tuna around Montauk. If you ain’t fishing you are missing! BASST, Captain Robin Calitri
