Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Capt. Robin G Calitri
August 24, 2005
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

I hear people speak of the ‘summer doldrums’ of fishing and I laugh. We need to be out on the water whenever we can. Fish are around. Jim Del Grosso did a hammer job on big blues and stripers at Montauk and in the Race. The fish blitzed like the fall run. He had two keeper bass on the fly. Val Kalish and Neil Magnus had a great day fishing the east end on Tuesday. They fought the giant blues until their arms hurt. The Long Island Bassmasters held a tournament on Fort Pond in Montauk. Brendan Cuccinielllo took the win. The LIB six man team is now fishing Lake Cayuga as part of the New York State Bass Federation Team event. I am proud to be part of the team. Captain Bob Robl is not well and having a tough time presently. Let’s send our best wishes to Captain Bob and his family! BASST, Captain Robin Calitri
