New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

We Smacked Em Today!!!!

Carl and Glen from NJ. spent a gorgeous day on the Salmon River with me today. We floated from Altmar to Rt 2a and found fish in about 7 of 20 spots.

We took our first fish in the third spot of the day, about an hour into the morning and then we picked at a fish about every 1 hour until about 1:00. It seemed they turned right on between 1 and 2:00 and we hooked about nine more in one spot. I'll let the pictures do the talking. (My software only allows me to post three pictures). "All fish were Released" We caught fish on Hot Shots and on chartreuse eggs and flies. Surprisingly, even in the clear water and high bright sun, they wanted the chartreuse. You figure it out.

The weather was spectacular, the weekend crowds went away and the fish bit. How can you beat that?

The salmon river is running a nice 700cfs, but there is alot of run-off and it will rise. Probably more than we want it to.

The Oswego is running high, about 9200 cfs as I am writng this. Anything over 10,000 is tough fishing, but there are plenty of trout to go around.

I still have some prime openings in March and April. So give us a call. Go get-um. Troy
