New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
March 17, 2002
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Although the salmon river has been running high at 1000 cfs. The fishing this week in the small streams was excellent, as we found fish just about everywhere we stopped. A huge hen weighing in at over 15 pounds was the largest we landed, though there was a huge male that would have weighed twenty spotted, but he eludued us. Chartreuse sacs continue to be the top producer.

The Oswego is running good and there fish at the dam, but the harbor is loaded with fresh run silver browns. If you, have a small boat or just want to fish from shore, go to the Oswego Harbor and fish jigs and minnows.

For those concerned about fishing near our nuclear plants, I will have the exact latitude and longitude that will be off limits in an upcoming report. I am told that the Coast Guard will also have the areas heavily marked with buoys.

High Adventure Sportfishing is currently taking reservations for Spring, Summer and Fall, Lake and River charters.

Relieve some stress and spend the day on the water with family and friends.
