New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
September 7, 2004
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

OK. I know I haven't updated in a few weeks. Only one 8 hr. trip today, so we hit the docks early. This will actually give me a little time to catch up and do a more thorough report. So here it is:

The Kings and Coho's are here to stay with good numbers of each staging along the Southeast shoreline from Oswego to the salmon river. Lately the best depths have been 60 to 200 feet of water. This may all change with the big storm haeading our way, we'll have to wait and see.

We are still seeing nice fat bright salmon packed with bait. It has been a wonderful season for me overall, despite my recent engine problems. I am now repowered again with a 2004 engine. Hope this one stays together!

I have to say thanks to the clients that I had to fish on other boats and to the captains that let me borrow them. Thank you very much.

Sept 20 my river season starts and we are already seeing good numbers of fish up the salmon and oswego rivers. I have other guides available for the Fall run, but I am all booked through late November.

On the lake I am running a combination of cut-bait and flashers and flies. Colors change with the time of day and light and water conditions, but green has stood out as the best color overall. Green g-flys and white A-Tom-Mik flies behind a white e-chip flasher or silver-glo dodger has been red hot off the dipseys, and Fish attractors in the skunk, sea-runner and white and green paddles have been the best for us. I have been running 2.1 to 2.3 . But don't be afraid to kick it up if nothing is happening.

The big guys are here. Where are you? I had some dates open up due to cancellations they are: September 14 & 15. They won't last long. Give me a call 315-298-2410.

Some recent pictures!

Eric Mulkeen has been fishing with me for many years. Here is one of the many fish he landed on their annual trip. I have watched him grow up and now he is taller than I am and only 16 years old!

Dad, Brian Mulkeen also landed a few!

Bob Sutay and his two boys. These little guys landed their own fish and did a great job!

Yes, He landed this fish and many more all by himself!

Long time client, friend, and pilot, Eric Markell with one of the numerous salmon he landed last week with High Adventure Sportfishing!

Just another great September Catch!

We didn't kill them this afternoon, but the boys are always smiling!

Thanks to Lil Flipper Charters for the boat rental

Jim Witner and company with another great catchwe fished on the Salmon Tracker this day.

Evan, Chris, Scott and Glenn with their best catch of the 3 day's they fished with me. We took four the day before and the first day was a blow off and we only had one.

I now am open on September 14 and 15 morning and afternoon! The fish are here!

Troy
