New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake & River Reports

Fishing is Good!

By: Troy Creasy

Wrapped up a three day trip with Winston and his son shelby from Virginia. Below are just a few pictures of the numerous fish they caught during their stay. A great three days.

Shelby with a big hen that smashed a copper Hot Shot!

Shelby with the first fish of the trip. The sun wasn't even up yet. Great way to start the day! All fish were released except one that took the hook deep.

Thursday was a different story as there was a lot of bank anglers and part time boat guides in every spot. Our timing just wasn't quite there but the company was great the guys learned a lot of new water and we did mange to land a nice steelhead and Dan broke in his new fly rod with a nice brown. Larry, we will get you one next time. I promise.

Friday and Saturday found us on the the lake and the brown trout fishing is just about as good as it gets! Even with southeast winds scattering the bait and fish today we were into double figures by 10 AM! A mix of rainbow, browns and coho salmon, a real nice catch. We heard reports of kings in 40 to 60 FOW. Looks like another great year for Lake Ontario anglers! Stickbaits off the boards did the job although the salmon and rainbows came on a Raider spoon in orange and silver 8 to 10 down and 25 back.

I had a group of youngsters on the boat today and did a outstanding job fighting fish and toughing out the cold rain. I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted, as the weather was slightly damp, but the ones below tell the story. Great job guys!

Dad's Greg & Chris can be proud of their boys!

If you want to spend the day fighting trout and salmon I have open days.

May 9, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 26, 27, 31.

You know how to reach me!
